First of all, I just want to thank all of you for all your excitement and love you have showed for me and Zane over our pregnancy. We had been reminded once again that we have the best friends and family!

But, I'm also writing to let you know that God decided it wasn't time for us to have a baby and I found out yesterday that the baby has stopped growing and no longer has a heart beat. We are very saddened but I have accepted that God has a wonderful plan for our family. It is still hard not to think about all things baby since I practically changed everything about my life for the health of our baby.I know our pregnancy wasn't planned, but once I found out I was going to be a mom, thats all I wanted to be. Now it's hard to think back on just wife terms. But now God has allowed Zane and I more time to spend strengthening our marriage, which is always needed.

I am scheduled next Wednesday to have a D&C, which is a procedure where they will scrape the contents of my uterus to clean it out. It needs to be cleaned so nothing stays there and causes an infection in my body. I could possibly have a natural miscarriage before then and I will experience a lot of bleeding and cramping, which the doctor said can be very scary.
Please pray for me that we will continue to find peace in this and not question why...please pray that my procedure will go smoothly...and please pray that we will have a healthy baby one day.

Go Gamecocks!

Did y'all see that USC-Kentucky basketball game last night? When we first started watching I told Zane that basketball was "boring" about 5 minutes later into the game Zane said "Do you still think this is boring?" Man did USC prove me wrong....was the best game I'd ever seen for sure!

Apparently Pumpkin is already looking forward to football season.....

Week Eight

On each Thursday I can add
another week to the baby countdown
every Thursday I will see
that my belly grows more round
Wait…..I gotta pee….
Ok…sorry, now I’m back
I had to also get a snack
mmmmm….Peanut butter and jelly
Never tasted so good to my belly
Now, Let me get back to my rhyme
Before it is prenatal vitamin time
Ahem….
the eighth week, still so new
will we buy blue

or will be buy pink???
Ewww!! what is that stink?
I better get Zane to take out the trash
Before I run by him on a mad dash
to the bathroom, my new favorite place
but of course with elegance and grace
because that’s what southern women do….
But where did I put my other shoe?
Don’t tell me I forgot something more
Oh, here it is in the produce drawer!
I sure hope my hormones stay in check

and Lord help me from being a nervous wreck
so i dont drive my husband to run away,
Swear off women and become… gray (of course)

Well I'd better go get some more rest
or go buy a support system for this chest
Tune in next week for an update
And pray for us during week eight!

The Baby's having a Baby!

Above: Our wedding day
Yes!
That's right, 8 months after being married, God decided to further bless Zane and me, and unbeknowst to us, started us down the path of parenthood. It wasn't until February 3rd that our eyes were opened to the surprise! And what I mean by surprise is...I was the first patient of my doctor to find out she was pregnant while simply visiting for her yearly physical! SURPRISE!!!
I'm starting this blog today so that my friends and family can keep up with my pregnancy, delivery, and everything that is to come after... (I must thank my friend, Catherine Osborne, for the suggestion to start a blog, and so if you are reading this and enjoying it, then you too must thank Catherine)

I'm starting this 7 weeks and 4 days after I found out that I was expecting. I have already been to the OB doctor's office three times. So far, everything is going well. Most importantly, no morning sickness. Of course, I am reading "What to expect when you're expecting" and Zane is reading "Your Pregnancy: for the Father-to-be." We have already learned so much about the pregnancy process. Even though I am a nurse, I pretty much forgot all the things I learned in ob/labor and delivery class. It is fun and exciting for us to lay in bed at night and learn together. Zane has been very supportive and helpful so far. He is taking very good care of me, as always.

As far as pregnancy symptoms here's what I have experienced so far (without the more personal symptoms included for everyone's sake):

hot flashes
headaches
exhaustion
aches and pains

So far, no real obvious food cravings or aversions. As for food, I have been trying to eat 5-6 small meals per day. I also cut out all my caffiene intake, which was about 3 sodas a day and the occasional cup of coffee. I had a rough time trying to stay awake at work for a few weeks in January, but then I figured out that I was tired because I was pregnant! I started to get more rest and now I am doing fine on night shift, even without the caffiene that I was used to guzzling!

Of course, everyone that already knows is very excited. We went through a stage of shock at first, but now we are thrilled and very ready to be parents of a real live human being and not just animals!! I still have doubts sometimes that anything is actually inside of me because I'm not showing and we haven't had an Ultrasound yet. I can't wait to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time, so I can just have that extra reassurance. I'm sure any Mom that is reading this, knows exactly what I'm talking about.

We decided to nickname the baby "Pumpkin" because of the due date in October. We will find out at 19 weeks what the sex is, probably late May. Will keep you posted!

xoxo
